Five things you should be looking for when buying activewear

With so many different activewear brands out there, promising the world to sell their clothes, here's our take on what you should be looking for when purchasing a product or from a brand for the first time.

#1 - Comfort

When working out, you need your activewear to feel comfortable, no digging in, no awkward seams in places that will cause irritation and fits that you can wear comfortably for a long period of time.

#2 - Material properties

Does the material offer performance enhancing or supporting benefits? We’re talking sweat wicking, quick drying, UV protection, 4-way stretch. Good performance activewear should have all of the above!

#3 - Functionality

Ask yourself, what am I using this piece of activewear for? If you’re buying activewear for a specific fitness activity, make sure it will support you in that. Good activewear should be able to support you in a multitude of fitness activities, for example, a good pair of leggings should take you from run, to strength training to Pilates with no questions asked.

#4 - Style

Do the pieces you’re buying go with what’s already in your wardrobe? The more you can style new pieces with what’s in your wardrobe, the more you’re likely to wear them and they’re not just another fashion trend forgotten about in a few months!

#5 - Company values

In a world where people are exploited and the planet is harmed at the expense of fashion, looking into the company you’re buying from is more important than ever. Does the company you’re buying from advise where the products are made? Do they support their local community? Do they give to or support a local charity? If they don’t, why not explore other brands who do!
